About 53% of all small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have been affected by some kind of security breach over the past year, according to a recent report, which also notes that only 56% of violations are investigated.
According to the authors, cyber security should become an integral part of all business operations, including sales. Small and medium-sized businesses reported that 29% of violations cost the company less than $ 100,000 and 20% say the cost is between $ 1,000,000 and $ 2,499,999.
SMBs are a constant target of phishing and malware campaigns and, ultimately, ransomware. Small and medium-sized businesses are not as concerned about the ransomware attacks as large corporations are more likely to pay the ransom and continue their business as quickly as possible, avoiding system outages and serious business disruptions.
